George H.W. Bush was next to his wife when she left this world in April this year, holding his hand all day until she passed away, at their home in Houston. Only eight months later, after shedding tears at his wife's funeral, the president passed away. George and Barbara Bush left a rich work of life behind, thanks to their long contribution to politics and engagement in charity.

For almost 80 years, they stayed close to each other, supporting each other in good and bad, and facing spectacular victories, but also severe sorrows, whether private or political.

And I'm in love with the man I married 72 years ago”, Barbara said, before his life changed. These simple words serve as a testament to an incredible love that began during a 1941 Christmas dance. Later, they established families of six children and 14 grandchildren, becoming the largest presidential family, writes Express.

Though he was always viewed as a strong man, he could not hold back his tears until his son read aloud one of the love letters he had written to his life's love. The couple were married on January 6, 1945, shortly after George returned from World War II.

President Bush was too endangered in war. In 1944 his plane and several other planes had collapsed by Japanese forces, while George was the only pilot who managed to escape from the plane and avoided capture by Japanese soldiers. In love, he had named three planes after his girlfriend Barbara.

In the last years of their life, the couple had a more relaxed life and had more time to spend together at their home in Texas. Last year they were admitted to the same hospital, one because of pneumonia, the other because of the tank. Barbara had said that they pray together every night, but sometimes they argue over who should start praying, writes “Daily Mail”.
