According to INSTAT's latest figures, the export of textiles and shoes increased by an annual basis of 2.9 percentage points in November, but the business Facebook says devaluation of the euro has made their profits worse.
Symir Bedaj of the National Chamber of Garments and Shoes Producers says: “The consequences of euro depreciation by about 9% within 2018 have led to devaluation of gross sector fats by 9%. We're now in terms that we're working without profit”.
In addition to devaluation of the euro, the clothing and shoe facery sector is in trouble due to the timely failure of the VAT. The heads of the National Chamber say that this situation has asphyxiated their finances:
“since the first months of this year that VAT reimbursement has been blocked. This has blocked our funds, and especially our relationships with contractors are completely blocked, we can't operate anymore, all of the locals have finished”.
Clothes and shoe producers demand that the government intervene to facilitate continued activity:
“Mass that can make tax reductions or increase the minimum taxable wage, as well as various subsidies, decreased power, fuel, and so on. So the measures can be discussed by the government where it sees possible to intervene”.
Pagers say they have over 400,000 employees and the continuation of this situation will bring job cuts and business closures:
“There remains a perspective, job cuts, and the closure of these companies does not remain under these conditions, a perspective is an emergency and a situation that is expected to happen very soon”. /tch
