Four top world figures will gather in Poland in the first few days of December to start talks that are being eased by the United Nations due to drastic climate changes that are alarming the world.
Four former presidents of UN-sponsored talks on climate change called for a decisive move.
The meeting in Katowice is expected to be followed by criticism due to climate change, since the 2015 Paris Agreement.
Experts say there will be drastic cuts in missions designed to achieve the targets set in Paris.
This Conference of Pales (COP) is the first to be held since the meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC), which reported on limiting global temperature growth to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
The IPCC said that to maintain the 1.5C target, governments would have to lower greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030.
But a recent study showed that CO2 emissions are on the rise again in the last four years.
The four former UN presidents in climate talks -- Frank Bainimarma from Fiji, Salahedddine Mesoured by Morocco, Laurent Fabius from France and Manuel Pulgar Vidal from Peru -- issued a statement today calling for urgent action.
They say <x0 operations in the next two years will be crucial”.
Any delay will make it more difficult and more expensive to respond to climate change”, their statement said.
