The latest Gallup International Association Study around the globe that includes Kosovo and Albania through Cantar TNS Index Kosova, a member of this association, points out that optimism continues to reign in the world, yet pessimism is on the rise.

According to one publication, the Gallup International Association Endyear study records a paradox: People living in richer countries tend to be more pessimistic about the next year and the opposite.

However, there are indicators showing that, in fact, citizens' optimism is more related to economic and political changes in the country than to the country's own current situation and the best example in this is Kosovo.

Kosovo in the most difficult economic and political periods, for several consecutive years was the most optimistic state in the world, where 90% of the population considered that next year would be better than the previous year, while today only 51% of the population agree to this statement”, says the publication.

In fact, as it adds, the level of optimism in Kosovo over the past three years has remained in the same position, which shows that the population has apparently achieved a general co-operation, not so bad as to complain and not so well enough to show enthusiasm.

This constant trend certainly influenced the fact that there have been no tempting changes in the country in recent years to move the trend of hope, such as the institutional deadlock in 2014, but no initial developments showing enthusiasm”.

On the other hand, it is noted that although measured only in the last three years, the level of optimism in Albania has continued to rise since 2016, which can be attributed to economic developments in Albania, as well as to the perceived readiness of Albania's leadership in addressing problems.

“Hope that 2019 will be better than the year 2018 is on the rise in Africa (Despite living conditions), India, among the non-EU countries of Europe, in the United States and Latin America, as pessimism continues to rise in Middle East states, Russia and most of Western Europe”.

“Bankers of the European Union and Russia continue to be even more pessimistic, since US residents have not been more optimistic than this year in the last decade, where the key factor can be considered the performance of the American economy”, is estimated in publication.

latest Gallup International ( Eoy) is an annual tradition initiated and designed by Dr. George Gallup in 1977. Since this year, the study has been conducted once a year.

It becomes known that this year it was implemented by the Gallup International Association in partnership with the WIN in 55 countries around the world.

In Kosovo and Albania the study was conducted by Cantar TNS Index Kosova and Be Research.

A total of 48,745 individuals worldwide were interviewed. Each country was represented by samples of around 1,000 people interviewed face-to-face; n=28,063), by telephone (7 states; n=5,922) or online (16 states; n=14,760). The field data collection was conducted during the October-December 2018 months.

It is estimated that the margin of error for this study is 3.5% at the level of credibility 95%.
