The search and rescue operation is under way in Japan following an incident involving two American Marine Corps aircraft.
The planes involved are a KC-130 and an F / A-18 with headquarters in Iwakuni near Hiroshima and carried seven people, marine officials said.
One survivor has been rescued by Japanese research teams, but another six remain missing.net.
American media say the two planes crashed during the fuel supply in mid-air, but this has not been officially confirmed.
Marine troops announced at the social Twitter rate that the incident occurred around 0200 on Thursday (March 5th GMT).
There were five people on C-130 and two on F-18.
