Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has today accepted credentials from the new US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Costet.
President Thaci has said he had the pleasure of seeing Ambassador Costet in Washington twice last week, once at the joint meeting with Secretary Pompeo and then during his oath at the American State Department.
I am very grateful for the messages that Washington has sent to Kosovo, but also in the brief conversation we developed today. Ambassador Costet is a lucky man who will serve in a country with the most pro-American population in the world”, President Thaci said.
The head of state stressed that Ambassador Costet has served earlier in Kosovo and recognises Kosovo.
I'm very grateful, Your Honor Ambassador, for the continued support of the United States of America, over the last three decades. I believe that even the third chapter after freedom and independence, that of Kosovo's integration into NATO and Euro-Atlantic structures will be carried out in a joint and co-ordinated agenda”, said President Thaci.
On the other hand, the new US ambassador, Philip Costnet, has said it is a great honour for him and his family to be in Kosovo.
“Sic checks out you too, I served briefly at the US Embassy in Kosovo 15 years ago. It is an extraordinary honour and satisfaction to return and see the progress Kosovo has already made on its way to prosperity, justice, peace and the establishment of good relations with neighbours. I enjoy the opportunity to work closely with you, with the ministries, and also with the people of Kosovo, except with the government, to make it clear that the United States is here to back up. Partnership between the United States and Kosovo has no comparison anywhere in the world. There are no two states which are closer friends than the United States and Kosovo”, Ambassador Costet said.
President Thaci has welcomed success to the new US ambassador to Kosovo, as well as has said he is eager to begin joint commitments, in a well co-ordinated agenda, meaning good neighbourly relations with neighbours, economic development, order and law, Euro-Atlantic future, multiethnic life with a harmony among people, and, before all, a clear and just course for our country
