“Albania as a NATO member is publishing sensitive information about its highest internet intelligence operators, providing details on their identity, vehicles, operational roles, travel movements and daily customs available to the public, creating a potentially dangerous gap that could [...]
The report says that the salary and spending data published on the Albanian Ministry of Finance website show a detailed wealth of details on the State Intelligence Service, including the location of field offices, as well as the technicians and mechanics they use.
The data shows the names and numbers of national agents' identification cards in the service, known at the local level and in the intelligence community as SISH, operating inside and abroad, including two sensitive positions at NATO headquarters in Brussels. Tablesheets show the names, positions, salaries and expenses of at least eight leading Albanian operators, some working under diplomatic service in Belgium, Greece, Kosovo, Italy, Macedonia and Serbia broadcast BW.
“Independent” writes that it has not revealed the names or other identifying details to prevent consequences against low-level informants or others associated with agency operatives. “Entering the Albanian system they can enter the NATO system”, said Xhemal Djunkshi, opposition MP in the Albanian Parliament, member of the National Security Commission and former Major General in the military.
“Nis to pull a string and end up in Brussels or London or the office of a Supreme Commander in the US”.
A former CIA field experience, familiar with the S.H.A., describes it as the kind of bureaucratic disaster that threatens life.
The administration could have screwed you up if you weren't paying attention to “The Independent”, preferring anonymity, as it continues to work on sensitive security issues.
You can publish it online. But to draw the names and details of the agents, this is crazy”
A spokesman for Brussels-based NATO responded on an e-mail that it cannot comment on intelligence issues.
In the end, “Independent” writes that SHISH is the successor Security organisation, the notorious communist-era spying service, which infiltrated every aspect of the Albanian's personal life during the dictatorship for four and a half decades.
