The uncontrolled sale of non-prescription medicine continues to characterize the drug market in Kosovo. In an effort to implement the relevant law, which prohibits the sale of non-directive drugs or prescriptions of the doctor, the Ministry of Health has adopted an action plan. It is given primary importance to the use of antibiotics.
Consumerizing antibiotics in Kosovo remains high, though in recent years, according to statistics, there is a drop in consumption.
The uncontrolled use of antibiotics has enabled them to buy them without medical prescriptions.
Kosovo, estimated as “champion” of antibiotics use, takes first place in Europe with a type of antibiotic sold on the market, already taking nineteenth place (19) for general use.
As a result, days ago, Health Minister Uran Ismaili has signed the Action Plan for Antiobic Resistance, which will serve as a guide for all public hospitals, health partners, veterinarians and environmentalists to lower resistance to antibiotics and increase population health security.
