In the Spanish port of Algesira, over 300 immigrants who were launched a week earlier from North Africa with Europe in view on Friday. The large group of people, who are not missing minors and pregnant women, were received by local police and charity society employees “Red Cyprus” to come to their aid.
Spain has allowed the landing of hundreds of African immigrants on its shores.
More than 300 people, including minors and pregnant women, were transported Friday by a Spanish ship for humanitarian purposes, since they had previously been denied landing in Italy and Malta.
The immigrants were rescued on December 21st as they were trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea by uncertain means.
The Spanish ship, which came to the aid of immigrants from North Africa, is owned by a humanitarian organisation that operates mainly in sea space between Libya and southern Europe.
The organisation's operations were temporarily interrupted by August, when it accused several European governments of criminalising the activities of sister organisations.
The complaint referred to a statement by Italy's Interior Minister Mateo Salvin that vessels with immigrants would not be anchored at Italian ports as they were acting as taxis for immigrants.
This year, some 56 thousand immigrants across the sea have sailed to Spain, while more than 760 are reportedly lost their lives in an attempt to land in Europe.
