This has been confirmed by EU domestic sources for Radio Kosovo, and therefore connoisseur of European integrations say visa liberalisation is postponed for 2020, due to elections within the EU held next year. Sources within the European Union told Kosovo that the proposal for abolishing visas for Kosovo is not currently included in the December agenda of the EU Council of Interior and Justice.
An official from the EU's Council for Justice and Home Affairs told Radio Kosovo that the visa liberalisation issue is not expected to be on the agenda of the Council, which is held on 6 December and 7 December.
Failure to include visa liberalisation in the decision-making agenda in the rotating meeting of the EU Council of Ministers will have to delay visa liberalisation.
Jehona Lushaku, a connoisseur of European integrations, told Radio Kosovo that because of elections within the EU, the postponement could be indefinitely:
“Taking into account that in the spring of next year there will be elections within the EU, it will be very difficult to predict when the next meeting will be discussed, and I believe that all institutional consolidation within the EU over the next year will be present, and the decision will likely be delayed by 2020x1>, she said.
Lushaku says the problem lies in the lack of political will of the European Union member states.
“Sic is looking to have a problem with political will within the EU, as it lacks will in member states and does not put it on the agenda for discussion, but left at a status quo Kosovo in terms of the visa liberalisation process and which is very unfair”, she said.
However, the Council of Ministers' final agenda is expected to be published a week before the meeting, where in the event of making the decision on Kosovo at this meeting, its empowerment would be made after the elections.
Otherwise, the EU elections will be held in 2019 for the European Parliament, as well as for the Commission.
