In an interview for Periscope, Qalaj has shown what she meant with such a statement and why it is important to respect it.
I consider the reactions to this statement to be completely normal. I did not say to forbid religious rituals or to go to the Church of Jamaica. I respect people who observe religious rites, they have freedom for that. But during our working hours we are uniformed police officers, and in any case we may require intervention for various cases that occur. If a member of the Kosovo Police is out of service, praying at that moment is not a cop because he is not in contact with radio connections, he has no gun, because with the gun he is not allowed to enter the mosque and we do not know where that gun will remain,”, he said.
He has stated that he will not stop anyone from respecting religious rituals, but says that respect for work hours should be a priority.
There can be no stopping anyone from believing in religious rituals, but we need to respect the work schedule. The work schedule is regulated by law and administrative guidelines, but not implemented properly. We haven't done enough to respect work schedule”, he said during the Periscope interview.
He has said that he has received numerous praise after such a decision and that on the ground since the apparent improvement has been grimed. / P ERISCOPIA
