With a pollution of ten times the recommended level, Macedonia is the most polluted country in Europe, European Life Environment Agency (EEA) data show, Euronuz published.
Heavy traffic and the use of wooded stoves and fossil heating derivatives cause dangerous increases in air pollution, as a result of which much of the population requires medical assistance.
Macedonia's government set an ambitious goal to improve air quality by 50 percent in the next two years, the Eurojunyz report says.
