The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms has expressed concern about loading the city with automobiles especially during morning and afternoon hours, saying that no “contribut” is being given to dozens of trucks carrying inert materials from construction sites.
KMDLNJ wants the respective directors of the Pristina municipality to establish order in urban traffic by exploiting the experiences of other major cities that have faced the same problem, respectively, to stop the circulation of heavy construction machinery during the time there is follow-up, from 7:00 to 10, a.m., as well as from 1500 p.m.
This restriction would be used only during working days, but not on weekends as well as holidays. The respective directors of the Pristina municipality, in co-operation with the Ministry of Infrastructure, must find a solution especially for the winter period to limit the movement of cars and other means of transportation by limiting the use of a car for a family during a day, if they have two or more cars, as if a special tax is imposed on those who, at any cost, want to drive into the city's centre of”, it is said in the statement.
In the absence of parking lots, KMDLNJ suggests the municipality of Pristina to use public space for funding except for permanent residents here in that location, as it would thus contribute to improving air quality and traffic enforcement.
With a traffic explosion in Pristina, with a tendency to worsen, with the usurpation of sidewalks and other spaces, extremely limited and threatened movement, as if air pollution increases extremely, and both are counted as the basic human rights that are flagrantly violated. The Pristina municipality, together with the Ministry of Industry, must find solutions for establishing order in urban traffic and interlocuting in Pristina”, the statement concludes.
