Edi Rama quotes Father Statefeen Geqov: A true Albanian heart covets union

Following Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, despite not mentioning the national union, has quoted a letter Father Stjefin Geqov sent to Konica in 1988.

This letter said “the heart of a real Albanian would covet the union”.

Edi Rama said that for Albania Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state whose stability is the regional key to long-term stability.

“Today is the day to force, that international right knows no half states. This justice, international law, is that of human rights, which does not recognise half-human”, he said.

Rama also expressed concern with the EU's approach to Kosovo, as well as with the states that still recognise Kosovo's independence. He has said that the step to establishing the Kosovo Armed Forces is the right step for consolidating the state of Kosovo.

We have been and remain disappointed by the European Union's approach and all those states that oppose Kosovo independence, and the free movement of Kosovo citizens.
