Citizens blame Europe, politicians for situation in Mitrovica

The main bridge over Ibera in Mitrovica, synonymous with the divided city, became a symbol of the chronology of almost all dark events in this city, carrying over 1,000 different post-war incidents to date. Recent talks between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels about [...]
The recent talks between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels about her and the overall situation in the country, including topics such as the correction of borders and partition of Kosovo, have created confusion, uncertainty and distrust of citizens, especially those of Mitrovica, who blame the EU but also Kosovo politicians for the newest situation created here.
Kaltrine Plana, citizen, has blamed Kosovo politicians, but European representatives, for the current situation in Mitrovica and do not open the bridge.
It does not hide the desire for uniting the town of Mitrovica, though it says the odds are minimal, while it is not surprising even in the event of partitioning Kosovo.
Erhan Mujka, citizen of Mitrovica, said that Europe along with local politicians is at fault for the situation what continues to reign in this city.
According to him, Europe has given some promises about opening the bridge, which it did not fulfil, while politicians have not worked hard in this direction.
He hopes there will be no partition of Kosovo, but is not certain.
Milazim Xhafa, another citizen from Mitrovica, also considers there will be no partition of Kosovo.
Blaming Europeans together with Kosovo leaders for the current situation in this city, he said Europe has set 95 criteria for the state of Kosovo and has now turned its back on it, while post-war leaders have taken nothing to join Mitrovica.
On the other hand, politicologist Musa Preteni has made known to Kosova Preris that it is Kosovo who in the talks in Brussels has opened the issue of border correction, so it holds some of the blame.
According to him, the topic of correcting borders involves delaying the opening of the Ibër Bridge.
Therefore, he added, the bridge continues to be closed because it is not known whether the north in this political negotiation agenda will pass to Serbia or not.
He added that the bridge would be a long topic until the EU considers that either the idea or the border correction proposal will not affect Mitrovica.
Otherwise, in terms of culprits for the current situation in Mitrovica, different opinions divide Kosovo politicians themselves.
While Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri, in his recent statements, blames his counterpart from northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic, for delays over the opening of the bridge, insisting that the Ibri Bridge will be opened very soon, not to mention any date when this will happen, former negotiating chief negotiator with Serbia, Edita Tahiri, delaying the bridge's opening process has called the European Union's failure.
