Embassy Posting:
Hi, I'm Philip Costnet.
Fifteen years ago I served in the US diplomatic mission in Pristina.
Now I have the honor of returning as ambassador to help strengthen close friendship between our two wonderful states.
My wife, Allison, and I expect to explore the country and create new friends from all communities.
We want to hear your ideas about how Kosovo and America can work together in many areas: business, rule of law, security, education, and more.
During our stay here Allison and I also hope to discuss the experience of living in a multiethnic, multicultural society, and religious diversity something that is common to our two countries.
Diversity can enrich us culturally and inspire innovative solutions to national problems.
And I believe that communities and individuals should sincerely consider their past to build a bright future together.
No one understood this better than American civil rights activist Ida Wells, whose words are marked on the wall of the National Museum of Culture and African-American History in Washington, D.C.: “The way to correct mistakes is to light the light of truth over”.
I hope I see you soon! Thanks for looking.
Thank you.
