As President Donald Trump makes harsh statements on immigration, several immigrant convoys are trying to approach the United States border. There is much of them in Mexico. According to W NICEFs, from immigrants who have so far entered Mexico, 4000 are children.
The immigrant convoy keeps moving. Tens of them, a piece of trucks and others on foot, arrive in the small Mexican town of Sayula, which has turned into the most recent meeting point of immigrants. According to the latest estimates, they still number thousands. U n NICEF announced that about 2400 of the immigrants who entered Mexico are children.
Victor Escobar left his post, El Salvador, to reach the caravan that President Donald Trump compared to an invasion. This week, President Trump ordered the sending of the first 5,000 soldiers to the U.S. border, reports VOA.
This can't be an invasion. Kids don't invade. Most are working people”, says immigrant Victor Escobar.
Most of them want to enter the United States, where immigration has turned into a central issue on the eve of the Congress elections, possibly affecting early voters and strong rhetoric on both sides. Former President Obama said the army is being used politically.
Now they're sending our brave soldiers. They are being sent for a political maneuver”, former President Barack Obama said during an election rally.
A second convoy crashed at the Guatemala border with Mexican border guards, striking them with stones. President Trump signalled that if they do the same on the US border, then they will be met with firearms.
We will not tolerate. If they strike stones, the army will retaliate. I've told them to consider gunfight”, President Trump declared.
Later, however, it seemed that the president withdrew.
I didn't say to shoot. But if they hit us, they're going to go to jail for a long time”, Trump said.
Meanwhile, Cindy Ramirez from Honduras, along with her sister, cries every night while hoping to be allowed into the United States.
