A total of 51 people sought medical assistance after the injuries received, while another 12 were arrested by police in the chaos that erupted in the 90-minute area between Esperence and Primeiro de Agosto.

An interior ministry spokesman said 38 police officers were hurt by the crackdowns on strong items thrown by hooligans, in the match held at the “Rades” Stadium in the capital Tunis.

The local team Esperence won 4-2 against rivals from Angola, qualifying for the next round. But more than the result, there were incidents that forced this challenge into the spotlight.

Police were forced to use tear gas, to the point that at one point the challenge was halted, as footballers could not even watch the ball on the playing field. The match took place at the “Randes” Olympic Stadium, with a capacity of 60 thousand people. /Periscopi/
