This funding scheme was opposed by the long-standing Vetevendosje Movement, while today MP Valon Ramadani has reacted to the social network again.
He has said that this additional fee through the KEDS bill does not secure independence for the public broadcaster, but continues strong political influence.
This is his full post:
Today, Kosovo's Parliament did not pass the Public Broadcasting Bill
A harmful bill aimed at establishing a new means of plundering citizens from KEDS under the idea of funding RTK did not today receive the support of the Kosovo Parliament.
We've been speaking over and over again about the unfair points of this bill, which is that, such a funding scheme, where 2.5 euros are assigned to each of the recognisers of electricity, does not secure independence for the public broadcaster, but continues the strong political impact, even on how the mechanism is extremely abusive.
So this draft Law needs to be converted to zero, in order to find a sustainable and defined solution for funding public broadcasters, which would ensure financial stability in such a way that it would protect this institution from political abuse in intelligence and from extreme commercialisation in its educational and cultural products./Periscopi/.
