Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Washington's withdrawal from the Treaty for Nuclear Weapons, signed decades ago, could spur <x0 weapons holdings” and that the Kremlin will submit the US decision to the United Nations for a symbolic vote.
Responding to US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the 1987 Pact for Middle-Rage Action Missiles, Putin has said on October 24th that, the United States has already abandoned the Anti-Balistic Missile Treaty in 2002 and has shown no willingness to discuss the continuation of a new nuclear treaty, which expires in 2021.
“If everything breaks down, then nothing remains to discuss the limit of arms growth”, Putin said at a media conference in Moscow, after he met with Italian Prime Minister Giusppe Ctete.
And then the situation will be, in my view, extremely dangerous. All that remains is a weapons race”
Trump on the other side has said it will remove the US from the Treaty because Russia has violated it since 2014 and because China is not involved in it, so it has developed weapons which Washington and Moscow have had impossible because of the pact.
Putin has said he wants to discuss this issue with Trump on November 11th in Paris, as both leaders will be part of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I ceremony.
We are willing to work with our American partners without any hysteria”, He said it. / REL/
