Dozens of residents of several villages in Vushtrri have blocked the road in protest of the failure to forgive the main road linking their settlements.
During the protest, residents have asked the presidency and the Kosovo government to share the means for street asphalt.
We ask you to take steps to complete this route within the year. We demand that the decision be made within the next week, if not fulfilled, we will protest before the government”, one protester said.
While the chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Xhafer Tahiri, said they have staged a protest to support the residents, but that according to him the road should not be blocked.
As municipal governance, we have supported the rights of residents. The situation is serious, and the government has the capacity to set the necessary means for residents not to enter the winter in this situation. I shouldn't block the road because we need free movement, but we are in favour of your high protest and culture”, Tahiri said.
Protesters later freed the road and declared the protest closed.
The protest has also been supported by the deputy chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Besim Muzaqi.
He has even asked citizens to support protests by residents of 18 villages in Vushtrri, due to the failure to complete the R220 Street.
Through a Facebook text, Muzaqi has added that delays in realising this road are neither random nor technical.
“Despite demands from the Local Government and the co-operation offered to the Government of Kosovo, it does not see the completion of this road as a priority that connects at least 27 villages of the three municipalities. It's considered more like a potential vote-gathering and inaugurative tape cuts when “are n therefrom”! So the planned 1.9 million is not signed so that the jobs can be completed and the lives of those inhabitants can slightly lessen”, he wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the resentment between the PDK and AAK ministers is endangering the health of the thousands of residents living near this channel, whose “pluzur has covered everything in the face of destruction and vegetation, while for the consequences in health, statistics of respiratory diseases will speak! ”
