Venezuela's president, Nicolas Maduro, accused American President Donald Trump's administration of trying to kill him.
But this grave accusation against Venezuela's opposition does not take on base, saying Maduro often makes such accusations to draw attention to his inability.
About 2 million Venezuelan people have fled their country since 2015, from lack of medicine, rising inflation and crime.
Washington has imposed sanctions on Venezuela, denouncing Maduron as a dictator who has cancelled human rights and brought economic destruction.
The White House accused the Maduro government Wednesday of involvement in the death of a Venezuelan imprisoned politician, whom authorities say killed himself but that opposition parties said was killed.
