The Pristina municipality this year will employ ten people with special needs who will be part of the municipal administration staff for two days.
This was done during the campaign “Theatre month of equal professional opportunities for disabled persons”, with cerrast Komuna Pristina having organised a person activity of this category.
Pristina municipality deputy head Muhedin Nushi has indicated that these types of activities raised awareness that even disabled people can be useful to society.
Niushi: 10 persons to be deployed to five units
You know, every year we hire 10 and more people at this time of campaign. This time 10 will be part of our staff during these two days. You're going to be distributed into five units different than two.
However, regarding the possibility of permanent employment, Niushi has suggested that three disabled persons are currently employed in the Pristina municipality, but non-compliance among the laws has caused some uncertainty.
Nushi: Failure to Conform Serious Hurdles
There are three disabled persons in the Pristina municipality who are employed. But unfortunately, two laws contradict each other. We've discussed this case last year and I've rejected the law on civil servants, because the law on disabled persons clearly defines that in 50 employed persons, it takes a person with limited capacity, while the civil servant law prohibits this kind of employment. So. could not possibly become any kind of discrimination against other groups or favour any group in the competition process”, Nushi underlined
He called for individuals with special needs to apply in positions that are announced and that they feel competent, while adding that there is no need for favour, but simply offer equal opportunities for employing all people, regardless of differences.
