Germany extradited the suspect in the murder of Bulgarian journalist Victoria Marinova.
Severin Krasimrov was arrested last week in the German town of Staade, near Hamburg.
Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Mladen Borissov, said Krasimov's DNA coincides with evidence found at the scene.
Marinova was raped, beaten and killed in Bulgaria's Russian city of October 6th.
Bulgarian prosecutors have said there is no evidence suggesting the murder is linked to Marinova's work.
She is the third journalist to have been killed in the European Union over the past year.
Marinova worked at the television station for many years TVN in Bulgaria and has led a programme for corrupt relatives, dubbed Detector.
