Failure in the process of visa liberalisation, clashes within the ruling coalition for dialogue with Serbia, and the establishment of charges by the Special Court are assessed as three definitions that could tear down the government “Haradinaj” and therefore send the country to early parliamentary elections.
Although there is more than a year of life, the government led by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj continues to be uncertain in its functioning. It is even estimated that the trigger for its collapse could become the very big topics, such as dialogue with Serbia, the eventual postponement of visa liberalisation. Besides already being given signals that liberalisation may not be completed until next year, Prime Minister Haradinaj has already received the alarm from the country's president, Hashim Thaci, that he may soon finish his job as prime minister.
This “threat” of the president to the chief of executives has come after their differences over dialogue, respectively, with Thaci's idea of restructuring the border with Serbia. Political analysts estimate that the impasse in these important processes for the country, as well as the activism of the Special Court, are possible definitions to lead the country towards early elections. Despite this, authorities say confident that the current government will not collapse, Zeri writes.
