Construction of New Kosovo expected next year

Kosovo's government through a statement for the media has indicated that the construction of the thermocentral plant “New Kosovo” starts in the first part of next year, which will be finalised by following and fulfilling all international rules and directives. “Project has large and unenable support [...]
The project has enormous and unsurpassed support of our strategic international partners. New Kosovo “will be finalised because it is the only solution to achieve energy supply security, which directly affects national security in the country. At the same time, we are continuing with the advancement of alternative projects from renewable sources, but we cannot or dare experiment with the safety of the country”, the communique says.
Kosovo's government commemorates that Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka has declared there will be no compromise at the expense of state security of electricity supply.
“As the minister of this country, responsible for energy, I will not allow Kosovo to depend on energy imports. The country's strategy is that economic growth and employment take place in the country by exploiting extraordinary local energy generation potential not only for our needs, but also for export. We need to secure energy independence and there is no other option, just as we don't have other alternatives to generate electricity”, he said.
The Contour Global investor has announced Kosovo Government, that it is on track to secure the financing of this project from international financial institutions, and that the process is in the final phase of the company's selection of construction, operation and maintenance of Thermocentral Power, the Kosovo Government's communique concludes.
