A study was conducted in a group of 30 patients with large prostates. A patient received a dose of 600 units, 18 patients received 400 units, and 11 received 200 units, depending on the size of the prostate.
Six months after the therapy, three patients showed excellent results, 22 patients improved significantly, while five patients showed no improvement but no deterioration. In the control group, which was tested simultaneously, only five patients showed signs of improvement, while 25 patients had no change in symptoms.
After these studies, several more trials took place in Canada and the U.S., and on which a significant botox effect was developed. It is believed that the toxicity of the A botulinus group blocks neurotransmitters who prevent prostatic growth and contraction.
The entire procedure is performed without any anesthesia and lasts several minutes. There may be complications in the form of infection or the appearance of blood in the urine, but these complications are very easy to repair.
