Austrian president speaks in Belgrade, border change is on table

Austria's President Alexander van der Bellen is standing for a two-day visit to Serbia.

He has been hosted today by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, with whom he has also held a meeting, where they have discussed dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia and normalisation of reports between the two countries.

The Austrian president at a joint media conference has indicated they have also talked about the issue of changing borders.

He says that as long as this idea stands at the table, there will certainly be those who will oppose it.

“As for the idea of exchange of territories, I am aware that there are different positions by experts. Austria's position is that, if a peaceful agreement is reached, which Pristina and Belgrade agree to, it should be considered helpful. I stress once again, peaceful agreement”, the president of Austria has said he writes '{0}'s.

For that idea, he says they have to reconcile and the United States of America and the European Union, which are also involved in solving this problem.

He has said the European Union does not want to membership other members who still have unresolved bilateral problems or even border disputes.
