Albanian state again raises vote against USA to UN. It has been chosen to vote for Palestine, but it could become a abstention, as did Croatia or many European states, writes “Century” This vote was recorded at the United Nations General Assembly at the meeting of October 16, 2018, where the draft resolution was approved, whereby the State of Palestine will gain extensive rights, privileges in the work of the General Assembly, as well as participation in the “leadership sessions 77x3> during 2019. This is a golden opportunity for Palestine, which is not known as a country by the United States of America and Israel.
States Votes for Draft-Resolate
The session set the above words in a resolution bearing the appointment: The document A/73/L.5, approved by a total vote of 146 votes in favour of this resolution, which includes Albania and most European Union countries, which at the same time have been for the establishment of Palestine State except for the United Kingdom; 3 against which Australia, Israel and the United States are included; as well as 15 abstentions, including Canada, Morocco, Croatia, Austria, and so on, which are more neutral in their positions in International Relations. Taking into account the decision of “Groups 77” to choose the state of Palestine as leader of this group for 2019, the Assembly decided to approve several modalities for the participation of the State of Palestine at Assembly sessions, during the work and international conferences gathered under its or other United Nations organs. These include the right to make statements, to present proposals and changes, and to present them on behalf of “Group 77”; to co-ponsorize proposals and necessary legal changes; and to file procedure motions, which are included in other rights. Aware that the state of Palestine is a full member of the League of Arab States, the Movement of Unadvanced Countries, the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, the Group of Asia and the Pacific and the 77th Group. The assembly also asked the Social Council and other relevant bodies, specialised agencies, organisations and entities, within the United Nations system, to apply the above-mentioned modalities for the length of the chairmanship of the Palestinian State of “Group 77”.
Albania's Position
It is not the first time Albania takes such a position against the United States of America. Albania's main ally in International Relations, which directly contributed to Albania's full membership in NATO, again feels betrayed by Albania. In the December 2017 vote on the issue of Jerusalem's status, the countries of the Islamic Organisation, which did not recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. At a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly wanted by Turkey and Yemen on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation and an Arab group in December 2017, these countries rejected recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Albania voted in union with other members of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, that is, against the position of the United States. Prior to the vote, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley stated that the United States would be marking “those countries which would vote in favour of the resolution, which passed with 128 votes for 35 abstentions and 9 votes against, including the United States and Israel. An earlier vote at the Security Council on a similar resolution received a unanimous vote, alone. The United States abstained. Also, Albanian politicians in general show strong pro-American support, while Prime Minister Edi Rama has held a distance from Albania's main ally, expressing against candidacy and selecting Trump as president during past elections in America. Albania's shift in International Relations also feels the issue of Israeli attacks on civilian populations in areas of Palestine and West Bank. The Islamic Co-operation Organisation adopted a resolution three days ago, harshly condemning Israeli attacks on the civilian population in the State of Palestine. This 30-point resolution, according to the official page of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (Iic-oci.org), highlighted support and approval from all member states of this organisation, including Albania since 1992. But official sources of Albania's Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs told the newspaper “The century” that Albania refused to sign the joint document of 57 countries of the Conference of Islamic Countries. “Albania was represented in the rank of ambassador, which is the lowest level of representation. There the Albanian representative has also presented Albania's position on this issue, which is the one that has the EU countries as well and later has left without taking part in signing the joint resolution”-Degaloi the Albanian Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Tritan Shehu: Albania Another Backshot in the United States
Parliamentary Foreign Commission Vice President Tritan Shehu Democratic Party MP via post at “Facebook” said the Albanian government gave another blow to the US in the UN Assembly. Shehu stressed that on Tuesday, Albania's representative voted again against the United States of America, adopting the “Project Resolution” presented by Egypt to recognise in the United Nations Organisation, Palestine as the leader of “Group 77”. This action, contrary to our national interests, is in the course of such attitudes of our government in December to the UN, the Islamic Conference, and further into the Geneva”, writes Shehu.
Tritan Shehu's full message:
The Albanian government gives the other “to” behind the back of the United States of America at the United Nations Organisation Assembly. On Tuesday, our representative voted against the US again, adopting the Resolution Project presented by Egypt to recognise Palestine as leader of Group 77 at the UN. This is done even though we are not part of that group, and neither is Palestine a full member of the UN. Thus, Resolution had votes against both the US and other abstentions, which included countries in the European Union, as well as Bosnia itself, which is a member of “Group 77”. The American reaction was immediate, viewing this resolution as a harmful act and making the Middle East peace process difficult. This action, all in conflict with our national interests, is in the continuation of such attitudes as our December Government in the UN, the Islamic Conference and beyond in Geneva. Such actions certainly weaken the great and essential support of our nation from the United States of America, to put our major national issues, including Kosovo, at risk. In this way we are supporting the “imposed by Palestine, known for its strong attitudes against Kosovo, not only do we oppose American positions, but we actually damage and peace processes in that region, processes, which cannot be developed without the US.
