At 81 years of age, Silvio Berlusconi is making the return once again to participate in elections to be held in Italy in March.
The media tycoon and the former prime minister, undoubtedly the protector of modern populism, who has established his party, Forza Italy, 24 years ago, is now positioning himself as anti-populist.
He has brokered a right-wing alliance for elections with Italy's neo-fascist parties, the Anti-European Union and the Northern Anti-Emigrants League.
The group currently appears to be the only candidate to win more votes than the ultra-populist movement Five Star(M5S), founded by the comedian, Beppe Grillo.
On Monday, Berlusconi flew to Brussels in an effort to sell his bloc as responsible elections in the upcoming elections, CNN reported.
He met with other centre-right politicians, including Antonio Tayan, the president of the European Parliament and a member of Forza Italy, and Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, referring to Berluscon himself posting on social networks.
Berlusconi began his career as a singer on a cruise ship before making a real estate and creating a media empire that grew up in the conglomerate of the media's news media, an important part of the global business.
Berlusconi was also the owner of the Italian football club AC Milan for more than 30 years, exploiting the power of the beautiful game with his slogan Forza Italiaú, which had been the anthem of Italian football fans. In politics, he has been prime minister in four Italian governments.
