The person who was arrested by KLA, appointed adviser to Hashim Thaci

One of the most controversial media stories after the end of the war is also what happened in September 1998, when a group of Albanian politicians from Pristina were heading towards Skyeraj Cyrez and stopped by KLA soldiers. It is believed that Hashim Thaci was also on the part of the KLA [...]

As long as the story has never been clarified, Thaci and Bytyqi will work in an office 18 years after this story.

Thus arrested by the Kosovo Liberation Army in September 1998, Veli Bytyqi has joined the Kosovo president's team on Monday. Former member of the Democratic League of Kosovo has been appointed political adviser to Hashim Thaci.

Bytyqi has joined President Thaci's team after spending about three months in the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo party.

I see the presidency as a non-party institution and I passed it as an adviser. This was the president's preference and I was appointed by President Thaci's decision as his political adviser”, Bytyqi said yesterday about the Indexline portal.

Before the AAK, Veli Bytyqi had been a member of the Albanian Democratic Party of Kosovo and of the Democratic League of Kosovo. In 2001 until 2004, he had served as political adviser to the Pristina municipality, which was led by the LDK.

Bytyqi had repeatedly opposed Hashim Thaci's political activity, for which he had led serious criticism.

Even in September 1998 Veli Bytyqi, along with Liberal Party of Kosovo Chairman Gjergj Dedaj and other LDK members Isuf Telaku and Agim Krasniqi, had been arrested by the Kosovo Liberation Army in Sculered Heavens.

For this KLA action, Gjergj Dedaj, who claimed that “Hashim Thaci and his men” had arrested the group of people in which Veli Bytyqi, currently adviser to the president of Kosovo.

We have been stopped by Hashim Thaci with his people. He said: You're under arrest. I didn't believe it.

In his confession, Gjergji stated that the group of people arrested by the KLA had been physically persecuted.

But 18 years after this event, which has never been clarified, Bytyqi will work side by side with Hashim Thaci, the man who has been part of that ban.
