The year 2017 was seen as the most promising for achieving the Kosovo Security Force's conversion to the Kosovo Armed Force. But that did not happen. The year in question was closed without Kosovo having its Army. The declarations of the ancestors of the state were always very powerful and, within that it should be formed as soon as possible, but always in accordance with all constitutional rules.
The Kosovo government has indicated that intensive work is continuing towards transforming the KSF.
The Kosovo government is working intensively to make the KSF transformation into the Armed Forces a joint step for Kosovo's membership in NATO”, said by the Kosovo Government's Information Office on Indexline. The latter have also been asked whether it is possible for this transformation to take place within three months, as stated by numerous sources but that form is not linked to a limited date.
This comprehensive process will be completed in full co-operation with all local institutions, NATO and international partners” are being answered by Indexline.
Unlike the issue, the country's president, Hashim Thaci, has recently been declared. Thaci, in a proposal for Indexline, has said that among the top priorities in this year we left behind has been continuing work on establishing the Kosovo Armed Forces.
We are now almost in the final phase of our efforts to ensure the support of the FAK's founding process through constitutional changes. We are doing this and will do it in full co-ordination with NATO and other strategic partners. Kosovo during 2018 will have its own defence capacities -- a modern army that will contribute to peace and stability in the region and throughout the world” -- has concluded Thaci. Otherwise, the state of Kosovo continues to be among the few states in the world that still do not have its own Army, as long as it has nearly 10 years of state independence
