The country's First Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli, during a visit to the European Parliament headquarters in Strasbourg, has called for European parliamentarians' support for speeding up visa liberalisation, while reporting on implementation of the European Reforms Agency from the Republic of Kosovo institutions for a Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
“During my visit to Strasbourg, I requested the support of European Parliament representatives for the unconditional acceleration of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens, while I also reported on the implementation of the European Reforms Agency by the Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for SAA”, the Kosovo top diplomat has said, informing the MPJ.
Kosovo's “citizens deserve this fundamental right of free movement, just as all other people in the region enjoy it. Any treatment different to them strengthens the conviction of inequality and second-hand citizens, the status from which we have suffered much throughout our history. It is time for us to move forward and maintain the great pro-European initiative, which turns on the people of Kosovo. Delays feed and push only dark forces. Let's act now”, Pacolli has expressed itself.
Current relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, the level of organisation of recent elections, the process of full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, war crimes and the process of reconciliation in the region, and economic development have been some of the other topics discussed at the Parliamentary Commission for Stabilisation and Association Kosovo - The EU, and where MPs from both sides participated, the MPJ reports.
While in Strasbourg, the foreign minister also met the ambassadors of the Permanent Missions of Kosovo Friends to the Council of Europe, of which he was assured of strong support for our country in the membership process within this organisation.
