Swedish mobile network founder I KEA, Ingvar Camprad, has been separated from life at the age of 91.
Camprad, died in his home in Smaland, the company announced in a press release saying that Camprad was one of the largest entrepreneurs of the 20th century. The billionaire, born 1926 in Smaland, founded I KEA at age 17.
He used money that his father had given him as a reward for the good results at school despite suffering from dyslexia to start business. In the last years of his life, Camprad has also faced questions about his past ties to fascist groups, something he has accepted but called a mistake.
Campad, had resigned from running the company and from her board since 2013, at the age of 87. His company's products became partly famous because of their simplicity and value. Campad was known for his simplicity... he was driving an old Volvo and traveling in economic class. In an interview in 2016, he said that simplicity was in Smaland's nature. If you look at me now... you won't find any of this I'm wearing that wasn't bought in the market...”, he said.
IKEA opened in 1943 and now has a total of 389 stores worldwide.
