EULEX officials estimated today that implementation of justice integration in northern Kosovo has been significantly advanced in co-existence of the two communities to ensure that rule of law reaches all sides of Kosovo.
The head of the Union of Law team at the EU Office in Pristina, Julia Jacoby, has said they are working closely on parts of the legislation, for the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as for the Law on Expanding Confisciency competencies.
“Law for State Prosecutors has been considered in close consultation with the EU family with the Special Prosecutor's entry into force, and we welcome solutions that will enable more efficient recruiting of new prosecutors. We hope that even recommendations for the efficiency of the office and the system in general will be taken into account. We work closely in other parts of the legislation, as well as for the penal code, the penal procedure code, as well as the law on the expanded competencies of the seizure. Once adopted, these laws will constitute an important tool for all actors including prosecutors in fighting organised crime and corruption”, Julia has said, at the annual prosecutor's conference, held today in Pristina.
And EULEX chief prosecutor Claudio Pala said implementation of justice integration in the north is obviously a major step in co-existence of the two communities and to ensure that rule of law reaches all sides of Kosovo.
Much has been achieved in this past year and much more remains to be done. Implementation of justice integration in the north is evidently a major step in co-existence of the two communities and to ensure that rule of law reaches all sides of Kosovo. Verily! EULEX is currently engaged in cases, under its executive competencies to Kosovo authorities. Since April 2015, some 200 cases have surrendered to him The PSRK and the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Mitrovica, but much more is expected to happen in the coming months”, Pala has confirmed.
