Producers in Kosovo say to be in serious trouble with frequent interruptionsElectricity. According to them, these interruptions are causing them not only work and production trouble but also severe losses in their businesses.
Burim Piraj, owner of the meat industry “Meka”, in a conversation for Radio Free Europe, said he did not believe that even in 2018 it would be discussed for lack of electricity.
“We have a large capacity of production and the machines we use are of a large capacity which requires greater energy. We've got a generator that's 400 volts that have a huge waste, 30 liters of fuel for an hour”.
This except that there's waste of equipment damage. When electricity is suddenly shut down, as is happening, these devices may cause a problem. Many times when we have power cuts, we have problems mostly in software and then they have to reprogram and take a lot of time, Piraj says.
By Data Economic Organizations In Kosovo there are about 300m euros a year of damage being done to producers from unstable electricity supplies.
Piraj shows that fixing the problems caused by power cuts takes a lot of time, which represents disruptions in production.
“From 1999 to generator alone and fuel we have had investments of over 250,000 euros. If these tools were invested in equipment and technology today, we would have 20 more workers than currently in our company”, Piraj says.
Insecurity With Food With electricity is one of the problems Kosovo has been facing since the post-war.
Although, over the past few years, there has been an improved power supply, yet never over 18 postwar years, Kosovo has failed to get rid of the problem.
Electricity Supplier (KEDS) Victor Buzhala tells Radio Free Europe that they are making efforts for power cuts to be minimal.
“KEDS is doing everything we can to get as much electricity supply as possible, we also have imports, but the Kosovo Energy Corporation has not worked with maximum capacity, has not worked on schedule, and this has brought difficulties in supply of electricity”, Buzhala says.
In the international energy system of Kosovo reports, a major obstacle to Kosovo's growth and economic development is estimated to be the inadequate and unreliable supply of electricity”.
Kosovo government It has already signed the commercial agreement with the American company Contour Global, for the construction of New Kosovo's <x0 plant “, which is projected to be operational in 2023.
Construction of Thermocentral With a bloc of about 500 megawatts, by energy-awareness was considered a positive development, but not enough to cover Kosovo's electricity requirements.
