Communication with Serbia for Ivanovic's murder is communication between two states

Not only have Serbia's authorities asked Kosovo authorities for information about the murder of Oliver Ivanovic on Tuesday in northern Mitrovica. It is Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri, who said that the Kosovo side has also requested information from the Serbian state about Ivanovic's murder, while according to him this fact means it is about a co-operation between the two states.

Tahiri even said that this type of co-operation is not taking place for the first time because such co-operation is behind dozens of other occasions.

The fact that we communicate today between the Kosovo and Serbia Justice Ministry clearly indicates that it is communication between the two states. We will co-operate to the point that we will manage to whiteen the latest murder of Oliver Ivanovic. And we're going to exchange information and we've asked for information from them, we expect them to bring it to the Prosecutor and the Police. I think the country's institutions are in the right step at dawn. So we're for a co-operation like with other countries in the region, Tahiri said today during his visit to the Smrekonica prison.

The justice minister has also spoken of the possibility of establishing a war crimes court in Kosovo, which according to Tahiri, is currently the Special Prosecutor who has mandated to prosecute war crimes, and Kosovo courts are the ones dealing with those cases.

Tahiri said he does not see the creation of such a court reasonable, but if he needs additional prosecutors and judges, then the Government is committed to doing so.

“E we have a special prosecutor who has a mandate to prosecute the war crimes that have occurred, and there are courts who are competent for judging those acts followed by the Special Prosecution and I don't see reason to duplication to pursue other crimes because I have information that certain cases are being handled by our” courts, Tahir said.

The justice minister has said that 300 new people in the judicial system will be employed this year and that he hopes that with wages increased for prosecutors and judges, efficiency will increase in the fight against crime and corruption.

Tahiri said they have not yet received any answers from Interpol regarding the request they have made to this institution for removing the names of Kosovo Albanians from the list of fugitives from Serbia, as happened to Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.

I haven't received any answers, but we'll insist further, and just as we've done with the first request, we'll be able to do it in the second bid, Tahiri said.

The justice minister has visited the prison in Smreconica, where he met with the directors of this prison.

Tahiri said this is an object that belongs to high standards and offers good conditions for prisoners.

He said they will work to function the economic unit, where prisoners can work, engage, but on the other side it will be profitable for corrective service.

Correcting Service Director Sokol Zogaj praised the good will of the minister for his interest in being the economic entity.

Minister Tahiri last week has also visited the detention centre in Gjilan and Pristina. /Kosovo pres/
