During his stay in New York at the invitation of President Donald Trump, President Thaci, along with the First Lady of State, Lumniye Thaci, were welcomed by the US presidential couple, President Trump and First Lady Melanie Trump. The country's first had a brief meeting with President Trump.
The head of state has met with world leaders from countries that have recognised and have not recognised Kosovo, where it has sought support for consolidating the state's position on the global political scene, for new recognitions of the country, and for membership in key international organisations.
