Twenty - five students and two guards have died when the flame engulfed a Malaysian religious school in a tragedy that officials in this country have described as one of the worst disasters ever.
The fire broke out on Thursday, before dawn broke out at the school's two-story building “Darul Quran Ittiqoyah”, located in the centre of the capital at Kuala Lampur. Firefighters have been trying to extinguish the fire for several hours, but the flames were huge. Photos from the scene show beds that are completely burned by fire and covered with ash. Khirdin Drahman, director of the fire and rescue department of Kuala Lumpur, said: “It is terrible for so many to die in a shooting fire. I think it's one of the biggest tragedies that have occurred in the last 20 years --”, he said.
The official has added that 23 students and 2 Guardians have died because they were mostly blocked by the fire that fell on the building. He added that he is now investigating why the fire has fallen.
