The United States says the mission has gone to the northernmost point of the DMZ, which divides the Korean Peninsula. According to officials, this century, no American aircraft or bomber has ever flown to that territory.
Defence Department spokesman Dana White said in a statement that the mission tells of the seriousness the United States assumes “irresponsibly bringing” of North Korea.
The statement says the flight of combat aircraft is a “demonstrem of the United States' commitment and a clear message” that President Donald Trump “has numerous military options to successfully meet any kind of” threat.
