A court in Siberia, Russia, has sent a person to the psychiatric clinic after he had publicly sought an independent republic for Siberia.
The prosecutor's office in the city of Angarsk in Russia's southeastern Irkutsk region has announced today that this man, whose name has not been published, has been found guilty of making <x0 public calls for shares aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation”, but is estimated to have mental disorder.
This person has been sent to the psychiatric clinic for treatment.
According to the prosecutor's Office statement, this person had used his mobile phone to distribute calls over the Internet in January 2016 to create the <x0-repudiated republic from Ural to the Pacific Ocean”.
A number of people have been prosecuted in Russia after calling for the establishment of independent republics, following the illegal annexation of Ukraine's Crime by Russia in March 2014, and due to the ongoing conflict between Ukrainian government forces and Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
