Russia's President Vladimir Putin has refrained from criticising US President Donald Trump.
Speaking at a news conference today, Putin did not answer the question of whether he is disappointed with Trump. He even called this question naive, broadcast Express.
According to Russian news agencies, Putin stressed: “Trump is not my bride, nor am I his husband”.
Asked how Russia would feel if Trump was put on trial, Putin replied: “would be absolutely wrong for Russia to discuss US internal policies”.
Russian officials enjoyed Trump's victory in last year's elections, while Putin praised Trump as a man who wanted to improve relations with Russia.
However, new US sanctions on Russia and the US decision to close the Russian consulate has raised concerns that the two countries will remain very divided.
