Perhaps Kosovo will not be able to secure membership in the United Nations organisation for a time because at the Security Council the founding states have veto rights, but the United States plans to send a resolution to the General Assembly, bypassing the Council, whereby Kosovo would be allowed a seat as a UN observer.
This is an American plan supported by the Clinton family and sponsored by Albanian lobbyists in America, writes the Serbian newspaper Telegram.
The “Plan is for Kosovo to gain observer status in the Palestinian model”, it says.
According to the same writing, the US is very interested, even more than Kosovo, to become part of the dialogue in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia.
Photographer also writes about a letter from American Congressman Elliot Engel, who sent it to Federica Mogerin, where it says that “Serbia is not ready for EU”.
This is being done, according to the paper, to slow Serbia's path to the EU until Kosovo wins its seat at the UN, Klan Kosova reports.
Stefan Surliq, a professor of political science, tells the paper that because of US major investment in the state of Kosovo and the recent approach of Kosovo dialogue with Serbia “Washington has reason to become a formal part of negotiations and final agreement”.
“First of all, the initiative for the resolution should be preceded by a serious diplomatic struggle by Serbia to secure the votes of two-thirds of the UN member states”.
The simple fact that more than two-thirds of the world's states would recognise Kosovo as a particular state would imply loss for Serbia and additional pressure for concessions to Pristina”, he says.
