Military Affairs expert Ramadan Qehaja has said that more pressure should be put on the Serbian List for the KSF's transformation into the Kosovo Armed Forces. However, he has expressed scepticism in reflecting the latter on the Kosovo Army.
“We have thought that by the end of this year, the issue of forming the FAK will be concluded in our favour according to the military requirements of the Republic of Kosovo. But after the government was formed with the blessing of the Serbian List, I remember that the issue of forming the FAK will be complicated, and this for us is not a convenient situation, rather, this should not be allowed. I remember that with the political and diplomatic plan a pressure should be made so that the Serbian List can accept this issue. But whether they're going to admit it or not, I don't know that, even though I'm personally skeptical about this”, he's saying.
Qehaja has recalled the weapons Serbia has secured from Russia, adding that Kosovo in this direction is at 0th point without its Army. According to him, President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj must resolve the issue with political and diplomatic plans.
Our political establishment should take into account one more element, until neighbouring Serbia is arming itself with offensive weapons, from Russian production, we are in fact at zero with regard to the formation of the Army. That means we're not taking self-defense measures as a state that we're in shape. This is the main element Prime Minister Haradinaj and the country's president need to find political and diplomatic solutions to this issue”, he has said of “Indexline”
Qehaja has concluded that Kosovo cannot be called a functional and formalised state, without having its Army as the main security pillar.
