North Korea has rejected new Security Council sanctions imposed on the latest nuclear test Wednesday, promising to double efforts to fight what it said was the threat of a US invasion.
US President Donald Trump said Monday's sanctions, unanimously adopted by the Security Council, were only a small step of what was needed to curb in Pyongyang on his weapons programmes.
The Northern Foreign Ministry said the resolutions were a violation of its legitimate right to self-defence and aimed at “completely killing the state and its people through economic blockade”.
“The DPRK will double its efforts to boost its strength to protect the country's sovereignty and the right to exist and preserve the peace and security of the region by setting a practical balance with the US”, says a statement published by the KCNA agency, broadcast Kosovas.
