Nur Islam, 22, was caught quietly entering the Commonwealth Bank in Springvale and then poured fuel from a 20 litre container at the entrance, British media reported “Metro”, the Periscope broadcast.
The video shows him bowing down and lighting the fuel using a lighter from his pocket, which then ignites a large fire that covers his entire body.
The black smoke is filled into the bank as the fire continues to spread, causing customers to escape.
The fire, which took place on November 18th last year, destroyed $2.5m and injured 33 people, including children.
Islam, which spent four months in a hospital with burns at 60% of his body, was presented today at the Magic Court in Melbourne and admitted that he had lit the fire on purpose, but he said he had no intention of hurting anyone.
He told the court he was angry by waiting for a long time for the bank's services.
Islam was not convicted on 33 counts of deliberate injuries and serious injuries.
He faces a total of 108 counts, including fire and fire damage to property.
It is believed that Islam, from Myanmar, had wanted to withdraw $442 from his account, but was angry because it had to wait a long time./Periscopi/
