The Ministry of Defence in Russia launched an intercstine ballistic missile from Cosmodrome Plesetssk in northern Moscow on Wednesday. Officials said the missile successfully hit a 3,600 miles away.
It was a mechanism used to launch missiles that was being mounted before the missile was launched.
The goal of the test was to reaffirm the credibility of the missile, which was established for the first time in 2010, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
NATO's top commanders said they were afraid this could be a cover-up of Russian attacks on Baltic states, following a lack of transparency from Moscow about the number of troops, writes Tvclean.al.
Observers will look closely to see if the soldiers, whose number is up to 100,000, have returned to Russia and if the missile trials have already been completed.
