It's Norway, very good news has arrived today about this country's fund.
The Norwegian central bank, in charge of fund management, reported:
Norway's sovereign fund, the largest in the world, reached $1000 for the first time today. This level makes up nearly $18,000 for every Norwayn resident, who currently has 5.3 million.
Founded in the 1990s to exploit oil revenues for the Norwegian state, the fund passed this symbolic level thanks to the assessment of the world's major currency in relation to the dollar and good market performance.
Made up mainly of shares (65.1 percent of the total at the end of the second quarter) but also from treasury bonds and assets in real estate, the Norwegian sovereign fund is a very heavy investor present in about 9,000 enterprises, and it only controls 1.3 percent of global capital and 2.3 percent of that European one.
The director of the Jungve Slyngstad fund, in a communique, says: I don't think nobody expected the fund to reach the value of $1,000,000 when the first spill of oil (a modest $300 million Czech, translated) was made in 1996”.
