Mass bomb successfully destroyed in Frankfurt

Bombing experts in Frankfurt have successfully eliminated a massive bomb unexplored by the World War II period.

Yesterday morning nearly 60 thousand residents had to flee their homes. It was the largest evacuation in Germany since World War II.

Among those evacuated were patients in hospitals and elderly persons.

Officials have ordered people living within the 1.5 - mile [1.5 km] range to evacuate.

The British mass bomb had been discovered last week on a construction site in Frankfurt. This city is the largest financial center in Germany.

More than 70 years after the end of World War II, regular unexplored bombs are discovered in Germany.
