Kosovo's government predicts that the issue of demarcation with Montenegro will be resolved even through the Arbitrazhi Court if the neighbouring state refuses to open this issue again.
Kosovo's first state effort, through talks to resume the demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro, was rejected by the latter.
During the official visit Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli has made to this state, he has received clear answers that demarcation is a closed issue for them.
This is what Montenegrin counterpart Srdjan Darnovolic has suggested to Pacolli.
But, in the Government of Kosovo, they still believe there is room for conversation on this issue.
The director of the Office for Communication in the Haradinaj Government has said that long ago senior state officials in Montenegro have expressed themselves ready for talks.
“Time earlier, top state officials of the Republic of Montenegro were declared ready to negotiate with the Kosovo side to clarify the border demarcation process between the two states. In the same waves was Montenegrin top diplomat Srdjan Darnovolic, who has said Montenegro, that the Montenegrin side will be open for talks with Kosovo friends and partners”, Matoshi has said of the news.net.
However, recent statements by Montenegrin officials, including Daranovic, do not indicate that my new state NATO is ready to renegotiate the 26 August 2015 agreement signed in Vienna.
“I believe Kosovo institutions will make the decision to ratify the border agreement, given that the borders that existed in the former Federation Republic of Yugoslavia have been proved by our two commissions and an international commission. As I have stated earlier, demarcation between the two countries is a work done”, the Montenegrin top diplomat said after meeting with Pacolli.
Mattos says, however, that Vienna's agreement envisions corrections and also sending to Arbitrazh.
The Haradinaj government is expecting to complete the process and see the detailed report of the state Commission and then take the steps of conform constitution and laws in force. We remind you that the Vienna Agreement of August 26, 2015, Article 2 of this agreement does not rule out the possibility of correcting the process, but that it also contains the provision that determines that if the parties agree on changing and meeting the provisions of the Agreement, there may also be a request for International Referee”, Matos said about the news.net.
Ramusha Haradinaj, who in taking over the prime minister's post, has started working on demarcation, dismissing the State Commission, which had led the job and appointing a new commission.
From the 2015 agreement, Kosovo is estimated to have lost 8,000 hectares of territory.
